Masochistic Riding: Woodford - Maleny

Woken up by a little rooster who lives in the rest area. Hatred gave way to admiration as he coolly dodged all the sticks and rocks I could pick up - I don't think I was the first person to throw things at him.

It was a grey and miserable day, so we packed up and rode over to the woolies to buy some supplies, then headed off down a logging trail through state forest.

Perfect riding conditions.

After a lot of mud and rain we made it up to a beautiful lookout, where we could see bugger all due to the thick fog which would hang around for the rest of the day.

This is what we were supposed to see

This is what we could see.

From there, we rode on to Landsborough, stopping for lunch at the bottom of the ascent to Maleny. We managed to pick up some delicious beetroot relish, which fortified us (or so we thought) for the climb ahead.
Sadly, no amount of tasty condiments could prepare us for a long steep climb on narrow roads, with a thick fog and bad drivers. It wasn't much fun.

The sign on the gate says "Heaven - KEEP OUT"
After battling our way into Maleny, we made it to the showground, where Avey celebrated with the traditional dance and song of her people.

Maleny turned out to be a really nice town though, so it was worth it.
